Bradford Joseph Te Apatuoterangi Maaka Haami, of the Oliphant Stewart whānau, is proudly connected to Ngāti Hokopū. As Chairperson of Wairaka Marae Trust, he brings strong governance and public speaking skills to his role. For Bradford, Wairaka Marae is a tūrangawaewae for himself, his whānau, and the wider hapū. His vision is for Wairaka to stand as a central governance and operational hub for Ngāti Hokopū, strengthening its role within the rohe. Outside of marae mahi, Bradford has a deep passion for history, whakapapa, reading, and writing. Inspired by his ancestors, who were also prolific writers, he has continued their legacy as an author.

Trustee
Terri Wilkins (Ngāti Hokopu, Wairaka) is connected through her Kuia Ngahuia Rowson (Merritt whānau) and great-grandmother Annie Savage (Stowell whānau), also linking her to Ngāti Rangitihi. She grew up in the marae kitchen with Aunty Irene Mokai, surrounded by stories and laughter. With over 35 years in finance, Terri brings expertise and a commitment to intergenerational relationships to her role as Treasurer and Trustee, supporting the marae wherever needed. For Terri, Wairaka Marae is a place of aroha and belonging. She hopes it continues to be a hub for whānau to gather, uphold traditions, and pass on stories to future generations. Her guiding message is: “Live each day as if it were your last. Be kind to everyone, and most importantly, to yourself.”

Secretary
Tēnā tatou te whānau! I whakapapa to Wairaka marae through my Nanny Nutchie (Magdalene) Hudson. I’m married to Hurricane and we have three teenagers: Waiwhakaata, Aiden and Motutere. We live in Whakatāne. As the Secretary, I undertake general administrative duties for our Marae Committee and Trustees. I enjoy our monthly meetings and feel fortunate to be able to contribute to the smooth running of our beautiful marae. My hope for our marae is to continue to provide a safe and happy place for our whānau to celebrate and strengthen our unique identity and legacy as Ngāti Hokopū. I’m also looking to hand over the reigns at the next AGM so please contact me if you are interested in learning more about the Secretary role. My personal passion is to revive our connections and practices as whānau with our Taiao (natural environment). I’m involved in a number of hapū-led Taiao initiatives through Te Ohu Māhuri – the Ngāti Hokopū Taiao Working Group. We welcome any whānau who may interested in joining our roopu.
